  • 2017 ACS Leadership Summit

Our Kansas Chapter is well represented at the 2017 ACS Leadership and Advocacy Summit ongoing this weekend.  Our contingency includes current President Josh Broghammer, MD FACS, Immediate Past President Joshua Mammen, MD FACS, President Elect Kyle Vincent, MD FACS, all everything Tyler Hughes MD FACS,  Kansas Secretary of Health and Environment and Ophthalmic Surgery Governor, Denise Lantz, Chapter Executive, resident Aaron Nilhas MD,  and myself, your Kansas Chapter Governor.
We have been reviewing our future plans and goals for the Chapter, while reviewing how our  Chapter functions in relation to other Chapters.  That data will be presented in the near future.
Among issues that have been discussed over the past two days we are hearing from other chapters are several: first, the somewhat confusing relationship between the state chapter and the National ACS organization in the matters of  Chapter dues,  the Committee on Trauma, and the Comission on Cancer.   We are also working to  provide the most helpful ACS resources to our Chapter Surgeons, as well as encouraging all surgeons to become more engaged with the chapter.  After our Advocacy meeting tomorrow, I will post the primary objectives we will be advocating for to our legislators on Tuesday.   If there are specific questions you would like for to ask our congressional staffers, please feel free to email those to me.    More updates to come.
