April 9 Webinar to Highlight Impact of Medicare Value-Based Programs on Physician Payments

Fellows of the American College of Surgeons will have an exclusive opportunity to learn about the effects of federal value-based purchasing programs on their Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) payments during the “Overview of the 2013 QRUR” webinar on April 9, 11 am—12 pm EDT. The webinar, hosted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), will highlight how the agency uses quality and cost metrics included in its 2013 Quality and Resource Use Reports (QRURs) for individual providers and group practices. The reports contain information about the quality and cost of providers’ care. CMS uses this information to calculate the Physician Value-Based Payment Modifier (VM).

The VM, authorized under the Affordable Care Act, provides bonuses, penalties, or neutral adjustments (no bonus or penalty) to a physician’s Medicare payments, based on quality and cost performance. All physicians and group practices will be subject to the VM in 2017 based on the quality metrics they report in 2015 via the Physician Quality Reporting System combined with the cost of their care. The VM penalty may be as high as 4 percent.

Please register for Overview of the 2013 QRUR on Apr 9, 2015 11:00 AM EDT. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
