Paul will be available during this 90 min block to answer any questions you may have about the diagnosis and treatment of these patients, thoughts on difficult cases, and general questions about the evaluation, testing, and management for possible hereditary syndromes.




Paul E. Wise, MD is Associate Professor of Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and serves as their General Surgery Residency Program Director as well as the Director for the Inherited Colorectal Cancer and Polyposis Registry at Washington University. He completed his general surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2003 after completing medical school at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1996. He completed his colon and rectal surgery fellowship at Washington University/Barnes Jewish Hospital in 2004.  His particular interest in hereditary colorectal cancer led to his election to the Collaborative Group of the America's on Inherited Colorectal Cancer (CGA) Council in 2008 and eventually the Presidency of the CGA in 2010. He currently serves on the CGA Fund Board. He is a founding member of the Lynch Syndrome Screening Network, a group dedicated to increasing the identification of patients and their family members who are at risk for Lynch syndrome. Additionally, he is a Fellow of both the ACS and the ASCRS. For the ASCRS, Dr. Wise has been a member of multiple committees including Continuing Education (2007-2010), Program (2009-2011), Website (2011-present), Public Relations (2011-present), and CREST (2013-present). He also serves on the Continuing Education Committee of the Society of Surgeons of the Alimentary Tract (2013-present).
